Dog Thoughts

Meet bodhi!

Wow, it has been a little while since I have written a post on here! For someone who loves writing almost as much much as dog training, I'm a little embarrassed. I was going to write about what has changed since last post...and a lot has! The biggest and most exciting change is that I welcomed a second dog into our lives- 9 months ago! He's smart, sassy, has a sense of humor and a great work ethic. Meet Bodhi!

It was sort of a fate like cooincidence that I was able to have him. I had been looking at dogs that I might welcome for a while last spring. Dakota, the love of my life, continues to age, as most dogs do. I wanted to bring home another sport prospect before Dakota aged out of sports. Bodhi just happened to pop up, being fostered by Dakota's first ever agility coach (and the trainer who gave me my first clicker!) He came from the same area as Dakota, and I couldn't help but love his markings, ears and adorable nubby tail! So, we went to meet him, and I came back with two dogs. Like there was any other possible outcome.

When I met Bodhi, his name was Bo. Ever since seeing Point Break and getting a crush on Patrick Swayze, I've been waiting to name a pet Bodhi! His full name is Bodacious Bodhi Everett Tremis and his registered name is Bodacious On the Run. And he can run! He's a Border Collie mix, with what I think is McNabb dog. It is now clear to me that I have a thing for black and white dogs. Not that there is any problem with that!

So far, Bodhi adores people! With one or two exceptions, he is the friendliest dog, and this will be the thing that gets him into trouble. He likes tennis balls, squeaky toys and soccer balls, and really loves to play tug. Bodhi thinks kids are the coolest ever, but has a bad habit of wanting to knock them over so that he can lick them better. He likes comfy beds and couches and is a total snuggle bug! Bodhi loves learning new things, but dislikes walks around my neighborhood. He thinks the whole world is his personal platform, and he enjoys standing on things that move. His favorite class ever is fitness class, and he would kick butt in Canine Ninja Warrior! He loves agility, even though we are taking his training slowly. His favorite sport is Barnhunt though, and his first sport Q's and titles come from Barnhunt! Outside of sports, Bodhi enjoys chewing things (mostly appropriate toys and chews,) chasing bunnies and playing with other dogs. He is a bit dog selective, but the ones that he likes, they have a friend for life!

It is safe to say that Bodhi likes Dakota more than Dakota likes Bodhi. They have gotten along with each other from the very beginning, but they are not necessarily besties. Bodhi doesn't mess with Dakota's food or chews and doesn't get in his way when Dakota wants to snuggle on the bed. Dakota generally allows Bodhi to act like a dorky puppy and doesn't fun police him too much. They enjoy running together, can share a dog bed and seem to enjoy each other's company. Dakota is always my Heart Dog, but Bodhi has filled a spot that I didn't even know was empty.

Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm crazy about dogs and want to see all of them living the best life possible. Most of my free time is taken up by dogs, but when I am not working with my own or others, I also enjoy cooking, volunteer work, reading and Netflix in my pajamas.
